Poetry and so on

I've been kinda enamoured with Allen Ginsberg lately, not physically, mostly his poems but it got me thinking on why i don't read more poetry. I mean poetry is so subjective and you can take from it what you will. So i decided to attempt to read more but I'm finding it really difficult. Modern poetry seems to be the only one that speaks to me on this level. I tried looking for one of those smokey jazz bars with some sort of dodgy spoken word nights with some bongos. Screw this rural area man.
